Regarding the "freeze after selecting color options" problem with Microsoft exchange (previously reported here):

Reply from Microsoft Steve Clough writes: "We have encountered the "color problem" with Exchange/Outlook and OS 8.X. We received the following information about this problem from our MS Rep:

"Outlook for Macintosh, Exchange Server Edition To clarify some recent confusion, please note that the Outlook for Mac client that shipped with Exchange Server 5.5 is version 8.0. Please note that Outlook and the "98" branding refers to only the Win32 client. There are no plans for an Outlook 98 version on the Mac (or Win16).

As some of you know, the current Exchange Server and Outlook Mac clients do not support Mac OS 8. Apple had released OS 8 too late for us to properly support it in the Outlook Mac client prior to shipping Exchange Server 5.5. Thus, we are planning to re-release the Mac client (it will be version 8.01) in the next SP of 5.5 (date not yet announced)."

According to our MS Premier Support Rep, the SP1 of Exchange Server 5.5 is supposed to be available 2nd quarter 98.

Using Outlook instead of Exchange Regarding the suggestion to 'upgrade' to Outlook for Mac, rather than using Exchange, Lieven Baeten writes: "Outlook for Mac does solve the problem, but it does so by disabling the Formatting Toolbar option in the View menu! This effectively prevents you from running into the problem caused by changing the text color from the Toolbar but it leaves you with the much more tedious task to change colors and other style attributes via the Format - Font and Paragraph menu's."
