MicroMat technician offers insight on Drive 10/PowerBook G4 (1 GHz/867 MHz) conflict

CNET staff

We previously reported that Micromat's Drive 10 disk maintenance utility does is not able to properly act as a startup disk for the PowerBook G4 Titanium 1 GHz/867 MHz models. The PowerBook G4 Titanium 1 GHz/867 MHz is the first Macintosh model to ship with a DVD-ROM as the startup/installation media.

A MicroMat technician offers the following insight on what is causing the problem, and how to get a new CD:

"As you know, when you boot from the Drive 10 CD, the Drive 10 application launches automatically. Drive 10 has a minimum screen resolution of 800X600. The video driver on the Drive 10 1.1.2 CD cannot provide that resolution for the new TiBook model.

"MicroMat has ordered CDs with the Drive 10 1.1.3 application and a version of Mac OS X that supports all models. These CDs should be available soon.

"If you purchased Drive 10 within the last 30 days, please contact our sales department about getting a new CD. You may either send a message to sales@micromat.com , or call 800-829-6227. You will need your Drive 10 serial number."
