Mark Hamill tells how Luke really felt about kissing his sister Leia

I'm giving only the most cursory of spoiler alerts. That's all you get. It's well known that Star Wars lead characters Luke Skywalker and Princess (now General) Leia are brother and sister. The estranged siblings didn't know about their familial relationship until "Return of the Jedi." They even shared a passionate kiss in the previous movie, "The Empire Strikes Back."

That kiss has been the subject of much discussion and has elicited more than a few "Ick! You kissed your sister!" responses. Actor Mark Hamill weighed in on Twitter to share his thoughts on how Luke felt about the revelation of having smooched his twin.

A Star Wars fan tweeted both Hamill and Carrie Fisher (aka Leia) with the big question. Here's Hamill's response from Wednesday:

So there you go: Luke went through a life-altering trauma. This is what happens when well-intentioned Jedi keep secrets. I'm looking at you, Obi-Wan Kenobi.

One very good thing came out of all this sibling weirdness: the mildly dysfunctional, yet still endearing relationship between Han Solo and Princess Leia came to fruition without that pesky Luke getting in the way. The Han-Leia union ended up providing one of the major plot points for last year's "The Force Awakens."

There's still plenty of discussion over whether Star Wars creator George Lucas originally meant Luke and Leia to be twins. If not, it makes the face-sucking scene a little more understandable, though no less uncomfortable to watch. If it had been intended all along, then you'd think Lucas would have spared poor Luke the trauma.
