What if Super Mario Bros took place in Black Hawk Down?

That's the premise behind Mario Warfare, the latest web series by Beat Down Boogie, the masterminds behind Modern War Gear Solid (we'll let you figure out what that one is about).

All is not well in the Mushroom Kingdom. Bowser is invading — bringing his armies, his airships and his penchant for torture. As Princess Peach flees, two humble plumbers with big dreams enlist in the Mushroom army.

The team has made two episodes so far (and uploaded one — we assume the second is coming); and as they have full-time jobs and make videos as a hobby, they have started a Kickstarter to raise funds to finish the series.
