Macworld Expo: New name, no Jobs Yesterday Apple and IDG World Expo announced made a joint announcement July installment of Macworld Expo will go on-under a different name and without Apple CEO Steve Jobs. eWeek reports "Renamed 'Create,' the show will run in its original slot: July 14-18 at New York's Javits Center. According to the companies, the change reflects a focus on creative professionals, including filmmakers, directors, graphic designers, broadcast journalists, publishers, musicians, music executives and producers." IEEE 1394b (FireWire 800) enclosures coming FireWire Depot will soon begin shipping several IEEE 1394b (FireWire 800) accessories in the mid-late April/May timeframe. The products will include 3.5", 5.25" enclosures, PCI cards, cables, adapters and more. More.

New docking station for the 12-inch PowerBook G4 A new BookEndz docking station for the 12-inch PowerBook will be available in May. The product allows for all of the peripheral devices normally connected to the side of the PowerBook - Power, Ethernet, Modem, FireWire, USB, Audio In, Audio Out to be plugged into the back of the dock, and remain plugged in, independent of the computer. The dock also converts RGB to VGA. Currently, BookEndz Docking Stations are available for the Apple iBook, the 2001 and 2002 G4 Titanium and G4 Titanium with DVI PowerBooks, and the 1999 and 2000 G3 PowerBooks. More.

"Message to would-be buyers of postage meters, CB amplifiers, mountain lion parts and speleothems taken from federal land: When you buy your goodies online, you'll have to pay for them with something other than PayPal." IBM to make chips for Nvidia Reuters reports that IBM will make a next-generation graphics chip for Nvidia Corp., winning business away from Nvidia's long-time partner, Taiwan's TSMC. "This is not in response to anything TSMC has done," Michael Hara, Nvidia's head of investor relations, told Reuters. "We're going to be a much bigger, multibillion dollar business, and realistically no one foundry can service that." More.
