MacLink Plus: WordPerfect vs. Mac OS 7.6 versions: what to do - and info on a Word Mac to Windows translation bug

Glenn E. Boley informs me that he contacted DataViz asking for advice about the fact that both WordPerfect and Mac OS 7.6 come with separate versions of MacLink Plus and that, after installing Mac OS 7.6, you may wind up with both installed. DataViz replied:

"Trash the extension for MacLinkPlus for WordPerfect. You definitely don't need both in there, and they may even cause a conflict. We licensed some translators to WordPerfect, but if you have our program, it's more complete and contains more translators and better support for avariety of word processing formats & features."

On another matter related to MacLink Plus, Ronald Gold, writes: "I ran into problems translating Word 5.1 files to Word for Windows 6.0 files on my Power Mac 7200 using MacLink 9.0. When attempting to open the document on Windows, the computer would crash as soon as I scrolled into a table. DataViz has identified the bug which affects translation of tables from Word for Mac to Word for Windows, all versions. The bug is caused by inability to translate empty cells. The work-around is to put a space in each empty cell. Otherwise, Ronald says that DataViz has a version 9.0b Updater available. However, I did not spot this upgrade on a quick visit to the DataViz web site.
