MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.5.1: problems booting; function keys broken; more

Problems booting Some users are reporting problems starting up after applying MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.5.1. In some cases, this problem is caused by a failed firmware update -- an issue which can be resolved by ussing Firmware Restoration CD 1.7. Firmware resotration has not proven successful for all users, however.

Function keys broken Some users are experiencing keyboard issues after applying MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.5.1. One reader writes:

"Since applying the MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.5.1, I have lost all functionality of my function keys and can no longer command-tab between applications. MacBookPro 2.4Ghz; 4GB RAM."

Also applies to late-2007 MacBook Pros MacFixIt reader Bob O'Driscoll notes that that unlike MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.5, MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.5.1 applies to late 2007 MacBook Pros with firmware version MBP31.0070.B05.

Resolves external display issue for some For some users, this firmware update resolves an issue in which external displays went blank after the MacBook's lid was closed.
