There is a new 2.3.1 version of System Disk out, but it does not yet appear to be on Apple's ftp sites as a separate download. It has support for English, German, French and Japanese. (Thanks, reader Eric).

Eric claims, regarding comments about System Disk in the item below: "One cannot boot their Mac OS X Server volume with System Disk if they have the Energy Saver software on, as the OS X drive will spin down, and not be detected in System Disk. A work-around is to use an SCSI mounting utility to spin the disk up again."

Jason Smith adds: "System Disk 2.3.x adds the ability to boot from a slave IDE drive (see also Apple TIL article #60412). Prior to this, both the Mac OS 8.x and Mac OS X boot partitions had to be on the main IDE master drive. This made it a little harder to backup, restore, and install. No longer. Now individual drives can hold the two OS's, making swapping drives to maintainvarious machines in a lab setting, for instance, much easier. Nice addition."
