Display does not wake up alongside system Some users have reported an issue where their displays do not wake up automatically when the attached Macs wake up after the update to Mac OS X 10.4.9.

This issue is typified by the display staying blank with its standby light on after the Mac is awoken. Sometimes the problem can be solved on a per-instance basis by disconnecting the display from its power source then reconnecting it, and in other cases by disconnecting the display from the Mac then reconnecting it.

MacFixIt reader Christopher Martin writes:

"I have a Mac Pro and the 30" HD Apple monitor. When I first got the setup, I had the often-reported issues with the monitor not waking up when the computer went to sleep, and being stuck with the dark monitor and the three pulses from the standby' white light. [...[ I cannot remember the software fix, but I did perform one and the problem went away... until I did the upgrade to Mac OS X 10.4.9. The problem returned, and it is much more common now, happening about 80% of the time the monitor goes to sleep for more than 5 minutes. However, this time the electric replug doesn't work, but the video card replug does."
