Mac OS X 10.4.7 Special Report: FireWire device recognition issues
MacFixIt reader Scott Houston reports a recognition issue with a FireWire device -- Sony's HVR-M10U FireWire video deck.
Scott writes:
"While working in Final Cut Pro last night, Apple's software update popped up with the latest OS update as well as the latest QuickTime update.I let it update overnight and just sat down to keep working in FCP and can't get FCP to recognize my Sony HVR-M10U firewire video deck (which was working last night).
"I can see the deck in System profiler so I know the computer sees it, just not FCP. Apple has this Knowledge Base document. I did everything it instructed, threw away receipts, reinstalled QuickTime. Still no luck."
Outdated firmware or drivers may be precluding recognition for some FireWire devices. Try checking your device manufacturer's Web site for the latest downloads.
