Mac OS X 10.4.6 Special Report: Special permissions messages no longer appear in Disk Utility
Previous iterations of Mac OS X, including Mac OS X 10.4.5, added new special permissions settings that could be found when using Apple's Disk Utility (located in Applications/Utilities) to repair permissions. As previously noted, any string that begins with "We are using special permissions..." in the Disk Utility log can be safely ignored.
Apple has now modified this behavior, eliminating the special permissions messages from Disk Utility.
