Garbled display after waking from sleep on some PowerBooks A number of MacFixIt readers are reporting an issue where after upgrading to Mac OS X 10.3.8, their PowerBook screens become scrambled -- displaying what looks like the result of a broken plasma tube (though nothing is wrong with the actual hardware).

For users experiencing this issue, it occurs with high frequency. Most report the problem 60-100% of the time they wake their machines from sleep.

When the problem occurs, the only way to restore normal screen activity is to restart the PowerBook.

We are still gathering details on this issue, so if you are experiencing it, please drop us a line at late-breakers@macfixit.com.

Safari World Leaks We continue to receive reports of an increase in the amount of "world leaks" delivered by Safari after updating to Mac OS X 10.3.8.

MacFixIt reader Ben Woodeson writes:

"Never had a world leak warning, now (after installing Mac OS X 10.3.8) loads of them."

Judith Maguiri corroborates: "I have experienced the same problem -- World Leaks whenever I close all the windows."

World Leaks are error messages generated by Safari's Debug menu option. They are only useful for developers, and should be of no concern to general users. In order to eliminate the messages, go back into the debug menu, and de-select the option called "Always Check for World Leaks".
