Energy Saver pref problem not limited to 10.3.6 Yesterday we covered a report from a reader whose Energy Saver settings will not "stick" if he locks the Energy Saver preference pane before quitting System Preferences. We also confirmed this issue on our in-house Macs running OS X 10.3.6. However, we've since confirmed this issue on two in-house Macs that have not yet been updated to 10.3.6. These computers are still running Mac OS X 10.3.5 and exhibit the same issue. So this problem is evidently not limited to, or caused by, the OS X 10.3.6 Update. We welcome feedback from readers as to whether or not they experience this bug under other versions of Mac OS X.

Audio settings reset after sleep We've covered reports of a number of issues with audio since installing the 10.3.6 Update. Reader Patrick Kent describes another issue, this one relating to his Mac reverting to default audio settings after sleep:

"I have my Audio Out set to 'Digital Out' which uses the Toslink connection to the amplifier of my stereo system. When logging out, restarting or even after a prolonged shutdown, the settings remain as I have set them. After sleep, however, they always default back to the internal speakers. This is really frustrating. I haven't seen it mentioned other than some comments about sound volume changing, which I don't have a problem with...I have already zapped PRAM and repaired permissions. Also tried deleting all com.apple.* preferences in both the home and root [Library] directories. Nothing has worked."
