HP on OfficeJet Support Hewlett Packard has issued a statement to customers regarding compatibility of the OfficeJet D series with Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar).

"It has been reported the HP OfficeJet D series products will fail to print after upgrading the Macintosh computer to the latest Mac OS v. 10.2, code name 'Jaguar.' Hewlett-Packard is aware of this issue and currently working on a solution. We apologize, but we are not able to provide additional information on software which has not yet been announced or released."

FireWire WebCam drivers MacFixIt reader Falkor notes added, if lackluster, native support for certain external video devices under Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar).

"It would appear that 10.2 comes with a default driver for FireWire webcams, such as OrangeMicro's iBot. Unfortunately, the picture quality is pitiful compared to vendor-supplied drivers. I have yet to figure out how to disable Apple's driver and use one that works properly."

Norton Internet Security 2.0 Laszlo Schuster reports receiving the following message after attempting to run Norton Internet Security 2.0 under Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar).

"The program that you are using needs to use a system file that may reduce the security of your computer. The file npc.kext has problems that may reduce the security of your computer. You should contact the manufacturer of the product you are using for a new version. If you are sure the file is ok you can allow the application to use it or fix it then use it. If you click Don't Use, any other files that depend on this file will not be used."

Schuster adds:

"If I choose either Use or Fix and Use then all access to the Internet is disabled. I have trouble shooted the firewall and there is no problem there. If I choose not to use the file in question, then Norton Privacy Control gives me an error message saying that it can't communicate with this extension and that it will now quit. However, Norton Personal Firewall seems to work ok if I choose not to use the npc.kext file."
