Mac OS X 10.1 Journal: Entry Two: a follow-up: Screen captures; reader replies

In reply to yesterday's entry in our Mac OS X 10.1 Journal:

Screen captures When we first posted the journal entry yesterday, we omitted something that had been in our notes to mention. So we mention it now (and we added the info to the journal entry late yesterday): Screen capture commands (e.g., Command-Shift-3 and Command-Shift-4) now work in OS X 10.1. Previously, the Grab utility was the only built-in way to take screen captures in OS X.

Making a bootable CD Several readers commented that they could get Toast, running in OS 9, to make a bootable copy of the OS X Install CD (we could not). We are not sure what went wrong for us, but will check again. In any case, the method we described for making a bootable CD works in OS X with only OS X software required; so it may still be preferred by OS X users.

Open Firmware Password utility Kevin Spahr said that he could get the Open Firmware Password utility to accept the changes - if he logged in as a root user. Meanwhile, a reader reports not having the problem copying the Open Firmware Password utility that we described. We will check into this again as well.
