Mac OS 9.0.4 We have received word that Mac OS 9.0.3 has now evolved into Mac OS 9.0.4. We can confirm this. The latest version is 9.04f3. Still no word on its release date. Note: Despite all the changes in numbers, the nature of the update appears to be the same. It still is primarily a bug-fix update with added support for new hardware. No significant new features are expected. Installer Observer crash: a work-around Regarding our previous coverage of a crash-on-quit with Installer Observer 2.3, Wayne Lee found a work-around: "Launch Installer Observer 2.3 from a mounted disk image (I used Disk Copy to create a disk image from the Installer Observer folder)." Update: This did not work for at least one user, using a G4 running Mac OS 9. UniMouse crash? Simon Zapata found that Word and Excel would consistently freeze whenever his Contour UniMouse was attached to his iMac. Update: Several readers report no conflict here with their UniMouse. Eudora data collection Several readers are complaining about data downloaded and/or collected by Eudora 4.3.1 regarding the use of the program and the fact that there seems to be no way to shut this off. In particular, check the UsageStats file inside Eudora Folder in System Folder. Another Sympatico suggestion Following up on a previous report about problems with Sympatico ADSL and Mac OS 9's Software Update control panel, Erik Ableson suggests another manual web proxy setting as a work-around: http://fasthttp.sympatico.ca/ on port 80, as set in the Internet control panel.
