.Mac members getting renewal notices three months early

Kris Maine and a few other MacFixIt readers are reporting that Apple is automatically renewing their .Mac accounts - three months earlier than promised:

"Today I received a message from Apple saying they will automatically renew my .Mac account. If you remember, people who had paid for extra disk space on idisk as part of itools, were allowed to automatically have dotmac account on July 17, 2002. Then, Apple extended the offer by giving an extra three months to Sept. 30. Now, I have a message saying they will automatically renew my dotmac account on July 17, 2003. What happened to the extra 3 months?

Maine attached an e-mail received from Apple in August, 2002, stating an expiration date of Sept. 30, 2003.
