.Mac e-mail troubles: Domains being inexplicably blocked

CNET staff

In the latest gaffe affecting Apple's .Mac service, it appears that several legitimate domains are being blocked from reception by account holders.

MacFixIt reader Rob writes:

"Around September 8, Apple started blocking a whole slew of networks, including many of the large email forwarding operations.

"This has resulted in 1000's (literally 1,000's of messages and page views) in the mac.com support forum, and many many reports to Apple through their feedback system.

"Although they say they'll respond in 24 hours, so far as I can tell no one who has been searching for answers for nearly 2 weeks now has heard a word from them.

"Outsiders with some info seem to think it has to do with 'Brightmail' but it would be good if Apple would at least respond. Cutting off people's email with no warning or explanation is pretty bush league.

"All I know is that my private domain, working for years, is suddenly getting bounced - costing me time and money as there are clients and prospects that I have not responded to, since I never knew they had emailed me."
