Lyft, Shyp, eat: It's never been easier to be lazy (The 3:59, Ep. 10)
On the latest 3:59 podcast, we dive into UberEats' expansion in the US, Lyft's new partnership with GM, and eBay's effort to help lazy shippers.
Want lunch? Just Uber it.
The ride-hailing company is expanding its efforts in food delivery, launching its standalone UberEats app in a handful of markets around the US. The app, which first came to Toronto, will go up against a bunch of similar services from DoorDash, GrubHub, Amazon and others. Customers now have a lot of choices for getting a bite to eat, but it's unlikely so many services doing the same thing will survive.
We also dig into Lyft's new partnership with GM to draw in more on-demand drivers, and we discuss eBay's new work with Shyp to help folks mail their old stuff.
The 3:59 gives you bite-size news and analysis about the top stories of the day, brought to you by CNET Executive Editor Roger Cheng and CNET Senior Writer Ben Fox Rubin.
