Lucent 970 may need replacement card

Bob Carr uses a Lucent ISDN 970 telephone set. He has learned that certain 970's shipped with a data module (basically a PC modem card stuck in the back of the telephone) that was incapable of properly connecting to any ISP that used CISCO routers. The result was an "incredibly unstable connection when using MLPPP. It was only stable on PPP or V.120I, cutting in half the advertised bandwidth. Using MLPPP caused either dead links or repetitive drop link/reconnect link problems that ruined downloads, all while charging a 2-4 cent a minute line charge! The solution is that Lucent has a new card that fixes the problem. They send the card for free to anyone asking."
