If Yahoo's newest executive appointment, Lloyd Braun, rings a bell, then you must be a "Seinfeld" fan.

There was a character in the hit sitcom's early days by the name of Lloyd Braun who played both a big-shot adviser to former New York Mayor David Dinkins and a longtime nemesis of George Costanza. Lloyd did everything right, and George did everything wrong in the eyes of the Costanzas.

Life for Lloyd takes a sharp turn for the worse when Dinkins fires him for pushing a proposal requiring New Yorkers to wear name tags to boost friendliness in the city (it was actually Elaine's idea). Lloyd suffers a nervous breakdown and lands in the "nuthouse," as George calls it.

Pure coincidence? Apparently not.

Before making his name as a developer of TV programs such as "The Sopranos," Braun was a partner at a Hollywood law firm that represented its fair share of celebrities. One of Braun's clients was none other than Seinfeld creator Larry David.

The story goes that during a round of golf, David placed a wager with Braun. If Braun loses the hole, David would write his name into a character on the show, according to a Yahoo spokeswoman.

Braun lost.
