All "Star Wars" fans have dreamed of having a droid of their own, an R2-D2 companion faithfully following along, acting as a mechanical sidekick. Haier Asia's Aqua division unveiled a prototype of just such a thing. The life-size rolling R2-D2 works by remote control and looks pretty much screen-accurate. Even better, it's a refrigerator capable of delivering cold brews, making it a cross between the famous "Star Wars" droid and Bender from "Futurama."

Personally, I would take an ice-cold can of craft brew over a distress hologram any day. Haier Asia unveiled the robo-fridge during a demonstration on Tuesday. The R2-D2 sports a swiveling head and all the beeps and boops you've come to expect from the plucky little bot. It runs on a rechargeable battery.

R2-D2's center section opens up to reveal a hidden two-shelf refrigerator big enough to hold at least a six-pack. It's the perfect companion for "Star Wars" binge-watchers who don't want to get up from the couch to get a cold one. I promise not to judge you if you fill your R2-D2 with Klingon Warnog.

As reported by ITMedia, the R2-D2 fridge is scheduled for release in Japan in 2016. There are no details yet on pricing and international availability.

Haier Asia already dipped its toes into "Star Wars" waters with a lineup of swappable graphics for full-size refrigerators featuring Stormtroopers, Darth Vader wielding a lightsaber and artwork associated with both the original trilogy and the prequels.

Now all we need is a life-size walking C-3PO vacuum cleaner and a Chewbacca mop to complete the ensemble.
