LG's TX Express and T1 Express laptops leave us giddy

Providing a break from the plethora of mobile phones at CeBIT 2006, LG Electronics has just given Crave a sneaky look at two of its forthcoming laptops -- the TX Express and the T1 Express DUAL.

The latter is the big brother of the pair. It has a 14.1-inch widescreen TFT display with a resolution of 1,280x800 pixels. The top spec models currently feature an L2300 Intel Core Duo processor running at 1.5GHz, but you'll have to put up with the lame Intel GMA 950 onboard graphics adaptor -- so you won't be able to enjoy a quick game of F.E.A.R. while your boss isn't looking. Still, at least it has an integrated fingerprint reader so The Man will have to chop off your digits before he can access your collection of illicit videos.

The 12.1-inch TX Express is the sexier of LG's new unveilings. Weighing only 1.1kg, it's LG's answer to the absurdly desirable Sony VAIO TX2. We weren't allowed near it with our tape measure and benchmark software, but apparently it's only 23mm thin, and will last around 8 hours with an extended 6-cell battery.

It's not just a (very) pretty face either. It runs 100MHz faster than the VAIO TX2, and features an Nvidia GeForce Go 7300 graphics card that has 64MB of dedicated memory, and being a TurboCache model, it can steal an additional 172MB of main system RAM if necessary.

LG says it'll give us five minutes alone with both laptops tomorrow in a dimly lit corner where we can crave the living daylights out of them. -RR
