LG KC780: Hands-on with all 8 megapixels
If you can't help but feel aroused by megapixels, the LG KC780 should have you buzzing like a bee -- its camera has eight of 'em
If megapixels matter to you, the 8-megapixel LG KC780 camera phone will be music to your ears and candy to your eyes. Pitched as the slimmest 8-megapixel camera phone, the LG KC780 is actually large for a slider, but it's not unwieldy. It has a practical charm, boasting big, easy-to-press keys and it feels sturdy too.
The camera comes filled with features to help you take a better photo. Face detection and smile detection do what they say on the tin, there's a slow-motion video mode and an ISO of up to 1,600 for taking pictures in low light. Disappointingly, there's no xenon flash -- you only get a piddly LED photo light.
The LG KC780 also supports DivX files and comes with 2GB of on-board memory, with the option to expand via microSD card. Bizarrely, the KC780 doesn't come with 3G or Wi-Fi, meaning that downloading content or browsing the Web is very slow, which really annoys us.
We're also miffed by the lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack or in-box adaptor, which means you're stuck using the proprietary headphones, which as expected aren't great. We obviously need to do more testing, but our initial impressions of the LG KC780 are that it's a rather simple mobile phone with a big number slapped on it.
If you're looking for a high-end smart phone, this obviously isn't it, but if you just want a camera phone that's easy to use, it's worth a look.
