LG expected to launch Nitro HD on December 1
After a relatively quiet fall, LG could soon be making noise with an HD handset of its own.
LG has scheduled a press event for December 1 in New York where it is expected the handset maker will announce its first smartphone to feature an HD display.
Rumored to carry the name of LG Nitro HD, the phone should boast a 4.5-inch 1,280x720-pixel resolution screen, much like the one on Verizon's recently announced.
A trip through the FCC database did little to clear the mystery, adding only that it would offer Bluetooth and WLAN, 802.11n, and WCDMA band V connectivity. Engadget points out that AT&T is expect to carry an LTE-ready version of the Optimus, and it's possible that this may pan out to be the same device.
In a related note, LG Android 2.3 Gingerbread, a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, and an 8-megapixel camera with 1080p HD video capture and playback.for Korea about a month ago, so it's also likely that the Nitro HD could bear similar hardware. Assuming this to be the case, the Nitro HD will feature
When it comes to Android devices, LG generally caters toward the entry-level to midrange demographic, with the Optimus line being a perfect example.
