LG Chocolate KG800: Crave takes a bite and it's delicious

Today Crave attended the official launch of the LG Chocolate phone -- the KG800 -- at the swanky Sketch club in London. We'd already seen images of this phone from Korea, where LG has sold over 400,000 units. The Chocolate phone is part of an incoming 'Black Label Series' that is set to take the UK by storm.

Is this a revolutionary phone? Yes and no. It's definitely one of the most beautiful phones we have ever seen, and it's the closest thing to an iPod nano in the mobile world. The specs are a little lacklustre though, and with only a 1.3-megapixel camera and 128MB of internal memory, this isn't going to make any tech heads smile with glee.

Then again, this isn't about tech, this is about design -- and just like the mega-popular V3 it's not what's on the inside that counts, it's how cool it looks. The hidden touchpad that glows like an Imperial lightsaber, smooth slide mechanism and minimalist overall look, make this one of our favourite phones this year.

Another feature we drooled over was the fully featured, beautifully designed remote that lets you control the MP3 player and make and receive calls. Unfortunately, with only 128MB internal memory, there's not exactly much to control, but remember this is all about style over substance.

The Chocolate phone is currently available for free at the Carphone Warehouse on monthly contract. These things are selling like hot cakes, or should we say hot chocolate cakes, so if Korea is any indication then you should put your order in early. But don't get too worried, according to LG they make enough chocolate phones to satisfy everyone's hunger.

Update: more images and a full review of the Chocolate Phone are now live.
