Lexus torments us with hoverboard marketing stunt

Lexus is toying with our hoverboard-loving hearts.

The luxury carmaker promoted images of a "working" hoverboard -- something similar to what Marty McFly used in "Back to the Future Part II" -- but it's not for sale, nor does it work as imagined in the film. The Lexus hoverboard appears to float on concrete in a teaser video, but that's because the video was shot in a specially designed environment with magnets underneath the surface, as USA Today reports.

Hoverboards do work... when used over a special conductive surface. Watch CNET Update to learn about the levitating Hendo Hoverboard, a technology similar to what Lexus is showing off.
