The iPhone, iPad and iPod touch are about to have their first Lego video game, Harry Potter: Years 1-4, just as the next Harry Potter movie is about to be released.

The game is arriving soon for iOS, according to our sister site CNET.com, hopefully before the movie's premiere on November 19. Owners of the Apple devices will soon have the chance to play with Lego figures based on characters from the Harry Potter franchise of books and films.

"Lego Harry Potter builds on the foundations of previous Lego video games by offering a mix of fun, accessible gameplay, and light-hearted humor, which appeals to all ages. Players will explore and feel as though they are at Hogwarts," said Warner Brothers.

The Lego games have been extremely popular on the PC and consoles, with bricked series including Indiana Jones, Star Wars and Batman. Although it sounds a little stupid, playing the games is actually a hoot, combining the childish fun of toying with Lego in 3D, with film properties we are all familiar with.

The Lego Harry Potter game has already reached portable consoles, the PSP and Nintendo DS. If the iPhone game plays the same way, you'll play through the first four Harry Potter books and movies: Philosopher's Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire.

Casting spells will obviously be a big part of the game, but like all the Lego video games, much of the emphasis is on exploring and collecting. You can also make potions, which will either allow you to finish levels or give you bad side effects.

Harry Potter: Years 1-4 has been well received on other games systems and is said to be the best Lego title to date. Its release is also timed perfectly, with the first instalment of the Deathly Hallows film to hit cinemas this month -- November 19.
