If you're gonna build a time machine out of Lego, why not do it with some style? The famous time-travelling DeLorean from Back to the Future is blasting into shops at 88mph.

The Lego take on the world's most famous DeLorean DMC-12 includes a time setting display, 'OUTATIME' registration plate and opening gull-wing doors, as well as wheels that fold down for flight for when you don't need roads.

And piloting the time machine are minifigures of Marty McFly -- with skateboard -- and mad scientist Dr. Emmett ‘Doc’ Brown. Great scott!

The 401-brick set includes extras bits and pieces to transform the original car into the versions seen in Back to the Future II -- adding Mr Fusion, a 2015 license plate and clear 'floating' bricks -- and Back to the Future III.

The set was designed by brick fan Masashi Togami, who submitted it to the Lego CUUSOO platform which allows builders to create their own designs for consideration as an official set. It's the fourth fan-made set to be officially adopted by Lego, following models of the Shinkai 6500 submarine, Hayabusa satellite and a set based on dig'em-up game Minecraft.

Masashi is donating his royalties from the set to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

Produced in limited numbers, the time-travelling DeLorean Lego set costs £35. Your kids are going to love it.
