Kodak's fall cameras

Kodak has announced four new EasyShare cameras for the fall. Among its new products are a multihued, compact, wide-angle camera; a snapshot camera with full manual controls; and a dirt-cheap 4-megapixel shooter.

The Kodak EasyShare V705 is the follow-up to last year's compact, wide-angled V570. Like its predecessor, the V705 has two lenses: a 28mm wide-angle lens, and a 5X optical zoom lens. When zooming in and out, the camera switches between the lenses to get the best wide or telephoto shot. This new model has a resolution of 7 megapixels and includes panorama stitching. The V705 will be available in silver, black, or pink.

The EasyShare C875 is one of the most advanced members of Kodak's EasyShare C series of point-and-shoot cameras. This 8-megapixel camera has a 5X optical zoom lens and aperture priority, shutter priority, and full manual modes. If a user doesn't want to take advantage of the camera's PASM modes, the Smart Scene feature can automatically select from the C875's various preset shooting modes, based on the subject.

Kodak is also launching two additional point-and-shoot cameras, the 7-megapixel EasyShare C743 and the 4-megapixel EasyShare C433. While Kodak hasn't announced any pricing for the cameras yet, sources say that the C433 could retail for less than $100.

The Kodak EasyShare C875 ships at the end of August. The EasyShare V705 ships at the beginning of September. The EasyShare C743 and C433 ship in mid-September.
