KitKat is now the 1 percent -- of Android devices
Jelly Bean is still the most popular Android topping, currently on more than 54 percent of all devices that have visited Google Play.
Android 4.4 KitKat is now officially a blip on the Android radar a month after its debut.
Collecting Google Play stats during the seven days that ended Monday, Google's Android developer dashboard found that KitKat now flavors 1.1 percent of all Android devices. Android 4.4 launched in early November, triggering its gradual rollout to phone and tablet users.
As always, getting the latest version of Android on your device is a hit-or-miss matter. It all depends on how fast your smartphone maker and carrier can ramp up the update. So a 1.1 percent share after just a month isn't bad.
Android Jelly Bean continues to spill onto more devices. Collectively, Jelly Bean versions 4.1.x, 4.2.x, and 4.3 are now on 54.5 percent of all Android devices, according to Google. Gingerbread is the second most prevalent flavor of Android with a 24.1 percent share, followed by Ice Cream Sandwich with 18.6 percent.
