Kinko's licenses Navigator
In its second customer win this week, Netscape says its Navigator will be offered at Kinko's stores throughout the United States and Canada.
Kinko's and Netscape also are launching a joint marketing program, including Web-based advertising, to promote Navigator in all Kinko's branches that offer Net access to its customers. In addition, Kinko's is licensed to upgrade and deploy Netscape Communicator 4.0, the latest version of the company's Web browser.
Earlier this month, Kinko's announced a deal with GTE to provide 24-hour Internet access at most of its more than 800 branches via ISDN connections, part of a growing trend.
Yesterday, Netscape announced a deal to distribute its desktop client software throughout the Defense Department. The deal is nonexclusive, but it could add the software to 2 million desktops, the company said.
Both announcements come in the wake of last week's well-publicized rollout of Microsoft's Internet Explorer 4.0, a competing product.
Netscape took the opportunity today to remind people that it still has the largest market share in the Web browser market.
The company's stock closed at 39-7/8 today, up 2-11/16.
