When you are responsible for the direction of Xeon and Itanium server processors, any help you can get is certainly appreciated.

Such is the plight of Intel's Pat Gelsinger, who will now be joined by Tom Kilroy to serve as co-manager at Intel's Digital Enterprise Group (DEG).

Kilroy, a 15-year veteran of Intel, comes to DEG via the Sales and Marketing Group where he served as vice president and co-president of Intel Americas.

Gelsinger, the former company CTO who has only been on the DEG job since January, has had a pretty easy go of it. Analysts queried after his keynote presentation at the latest Intel Developer Forum noted that Pat smoothly delivered a clean bill of health for the server division.

And while DEG is crucial to Intel's success; the entrance to the head office does seem to have a bit of a revolving door attached to it.

Before Gelsinger took the reigns Abhi Talwalker held the post for about six months. Prior to that, the job was the domain of Mike Fister, who now serves as CEO of Cadence.
