KDDI to launch 3G April 1

KDDI, Japan's second-largest telephone company, will begin offering service from its new and faster phone network April 1. The carrier will at first offer service in a few select cities. It plans to cover 90 percent of Japan's population by year's end. Japan's largest telephone company, NTT DoCoMo, launched its own next-generation phone network in late September.
