Jeep to introduce two new aesthetic packages at the Los Angeles Auto Show
The Grand Cherokee Night and Wrangler Backcountry are largely upgrades to the vehicle's physical appearance, but a few of the Wrangler's standard bits are optional with other variants.
Automakers love a good special edition. More often than not, these packages are largely decorative, adding unique touches like new paint jobs or special wheels. Occasionally, the theme also brings a few mechanical upgrades into the mix, as well. If you're going to the LA Auto Show next week, Jeep will be rolling out two new special-edition packages for two of its most popular vehicles, the Grand Cherokee and Wrangler.
The Grand Cherokee's new getup is called the Grand Cherokee Night. The package starts with a standard Grand Cherokee SRT, which touts an eight-cylinder engine delivering 475 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. The aptly-named Night trim adds gloss-black coloring to the roof, rear spoiler, grille bezels, side body pillars and window surrounds. Bits on the front and rear fasciae are covered in a less-shiny satin black. Finishing off the exterior is a set of 20-inch satin-black alloy wheels.

Inside, its black leather features silver accent stitching and dark-chrome bezels to keep the quasi-murdered-out theme going. Funnily enough, you can't get the Grand Cherokee painted entirely black. Your only paint options are red, silver and gunmetal.
The Jeep Wrangler Backcountry is also heavily focused on aesthetics, but there are a few options that become standard equipment, as well. Based on the Wrangler Sahara, the Backcountry is more of a winter-themed ride. The front and rear bumpers are of the powder coated off-road variety. Both the rock rails and the wheels are borrowed from the hardcore Rubicon model. A black hardtop comes with the car, but buyers can opt for a body-colored one.

The interior features seats with black leather seat bolsters and black mesh inserts. The climate-control vent rings, grab handles and door handles are all dressed up in a shiny piano black, and the console and armrests feature gray accent stitching. Standard equipment includes a nine-speaker premium audio system and Bluetooth audio streaming.
Backcountry buyers can choose from five different colors -- blue, black, white, gunmetal and purple. The latter option is available only with this new package.
