Blogs entrepreneur Jason Calacanis gave a hint of a new gig, when he posted a note on his blog about his upcoming talk at the Search Engine Strategies 2006 Conference & Expo in Chicago on Tuesday.

The fact that Calacanis was considering a new chapter in his life was not that surprising, given he had a few weeks back. AOL had acquired his Weblogs Inc. last year for an undisclosed sum .

Taking the stage at the SES event Tuesday morning, Calacanis announced he would be joining venture firm Sequoia Capital as an Entrepreneur in Action, a spokeswoman for SES said.

But even before the announcement was made, blog sites, such as TechCrunch were posting word of his Sequoia gig.

If Calacanis has time to breathe between his morning presentation and jetting off to the airport, news of his new position at Sequoia may make it on his site.
