iTunes 7.6.2 released; improves audio quality, Apple TV problems

Clicks and other distortion erased.

CNET staff

Apple has released iTunes 7.6.2, a minor update to its music/video playback and purchase software. Apple's release notes state that the update includes "bug fixes to improve stability and performance."

The new release is available as a 45MB standalone download.

Users are already reporting that this release resolves some audio quality issues extant in iTunes 7.6.1. MacFixIt reader Roel writes:

"Seems to have fixed the poor audio quality of 7.6.1. Because of the 'clicking' noises in 7.6.1 I was forced to go back to 7.6.0. This morning I installed 7.6.2 along with QT 7.4.5. The audio quality is back at it's usual high standards."

However, users are also reporting recurrence of an issue where Apple TV does not appear in the iTunes device list. MacFixIt reader Ruud writes:

"Same story here, brandnew Apple TV, not in iTunes device list. I have tried all the suggested fixes nothing works. I have internet acces on the Apple TV, can buy songs on the Apple store, YouTube works, but there is no way I get the apple TV and the iMac paired."
