iTunes 7.0.2 Special Report: Re-launches (uncontrollable)
iTunes 7.0.2 Special Report: Re-launches (uncontrollable)
Some users have reported an issue where iTunes 7.0.2 persistently re-launches, refusing to stay quit.
MacFixIt reader Mike writes:
"iTunes 7.0.2 relentlessly relaunches after I quit it. in 2 seconds. The only way to quit it is to log out then back in - but once iTunes is launched, it prefers to stay that way.
FixesCheck for other applications/add-ons that access iTunes Some instances of this issue can be resolved by quitting applications or system processes that have the capability to launch iTunes, or otherwise rely on the application.
This includes Widgets, iTunes-based alarms and more.
If you cannot find a running application or add-on that is using iTunes in some way, check for hidden processes using Activity Monitor (per instructions in this article) that may be forcing iTunes to stay launched.
Let iTunes quit, uninterrupted Some users have found that giving iTunes the quit command, then waiting several seconds before performing any other actions obviates the persistent re-launch
One reader writes:
"What I've found is that when you quit iTunes, let it quit before doing anything else. If you give it a few more moments to completely quit, before switching to anything else, it quits and stays quit. If you initiate a quit then switch away to do something else, it comes straight back."
