iSync/iCal conflict: Turn off Classic

iSync/iCal conflict: Turn off Classic

CNET staff

Last Wednesday we covered a report from Trevor Harley that since installing iCal 1.5.4 he has been unable to use iSync, instead seeing the error "Assertion Failed!" Trevor since worked around this error by doing a "fresh install" of iSync.

A few readers have since discovered that turning off Classic before attempting to invoke iSync eliminates the issue.

One reader writs "I have found that by stopping the classic OS before running iSync, I avoid all the variations of the problems associated with iCal and iSync. I ran into a number of iSync/iCal problems with similar message such as 'the connection to the device (phone, Palm, etc.) has been lost' or other similar links and data corruption when starting the sync process. I discovered that by going to preferences, selecting the classic, and stopping it, all problems go away."
