iPhoto 6.x: Trash fails to empty

CNET staff

Some users have reported an issue where they are unable to empty certain or all contents of the iPhoto trash, leaving unwanted data occupying volume space. The problem is especially likely to occur when deletion is interrupted by an unexpected quit or other issue.

MacFixIt reader Jon Terry writes:

"Using iPhoto 6.0.5 with about 20,000 pictures on a Power Mac G5 running Mac OS X 10.4.x (Tiger), I went to delete 3,000 photos. iPhoto unexpectedly quit when the process was almost done, I recovered 8GB of space but outline of photos remain in trash and will not empty. It quits now whenever attempting to empty the trash."
