Lost calendar Several readers have reported an issue where iPhoto 6.0 spontaneously loses stored calendar data.

MacFixIt reaer Michael Coyne writes:

"I was just using the new calendar feature in iPhoto 6 to create a birthday gift for someone. I was nearly finished when iPhoto 'unexpectedly quit.' When I launched iPhoto again the calendar was gone and no apparent signs of it in the file system either. I had been working on this over several nights so I can't believe iPhoto had not saved it.

"I tried rebuilding my library and still nothing."

Print quality complaints A handful of users have expressed disappointment with Apple's new print ordering mechanism and the quality of prints received.

MacFixIt reader Bill writes:

"Just received a new 2006 print-order book, after making 3 for gifts in November. The new books are not nicer quality - in fact, it is worse than before, as it now looks they have switched to a cheaper 'color-copier' look, which actually warps the paper and has the tell-tale signs of a color-copy: the 'ink' (actually a toner in these processes) builds up in the darker areas of the image and is more shiny than the paper it's printed on. The new pages have waves from heavy toner coverage, and the reflections from the toner coverage are distracting. In addition, the skin tones are a little too saturated. The old method, while also unable to hold up to true offset-printing used in books, at least had even coverage on the paper, and was better registered. The photo on the cover of my new book has a slurred edge, another sign of a copier.

"I was just comparing two books, one new and one old, and I am really let down. Actually a little depressed about it as I was just getting into this 'iPhoto book' thing."
