iPhoto 5.0.x: Time-stamping of imported movies incorrect

CNET staff

Mitchell Model reports that the time-stamps generated for short videos imported into iPhoto 5.0.x are inaccurate when using his Canon S1 camera:

"The AVI movies iPhoto 5 imports from my Canon S1 IS appear to have the wrong date and time. It turns out that when you select a movie in iPhoto, the date and time shown in the Info window (and used for smart albums, etc.) is the date and time of the jpg file iPhoto apparently generates and places in the regular folder for that date. (The actual AVI file is in that date's Originals subfolder. The jpg file is given the same name as the AVI file, but with different extension.) The default title for the movie is the name of the AVI file, so the Info window ends up showing the name of the AVI file but the time and date of the jpg file. Smart albums that filter on the date use the date of the jpg, not the date the movie was actually taken."
