IomegaWare 3.0 released: problem reports; fixes

CNET staff
Several users have reported that after installing the newly released IomegaWare 3.0, they were unable to access Zip disks formatted with a previous version of the software. Paul Gary writes:

"After installing IomegaWare 3.0 on my PB G3/500 with OS 9.0.4, I loaded a 100 MB Zip into my Zip 250 USB. It mounted fine. Using Iomega Tools, I used the 'Push to Diagnose' feature and the disk passed. However, after ejecting and later inserting the disk, it was no longer readable. I reverted to version 2.11 of the driver, and the disk could again be read perfectly.

Several other readers also noted that 3.0 would not read their older disks. We have yet to confirm if the problem is related to the diagnose feature.

Aside from the problem reports, Heidi Chylinski noted that formatting DOS disks has been restored: "After upgrading the system from 9.0.4 to 9.1, Iomega Tools was unable to format Zip disks in DOS. Installing IomegaWare 3.0 restored the ability to format DOS disks."
