IomegaWare 2.7 issues: a follow-up

Regarding problems with getting and using IomegaWare 2.7 (see yesterday's item): R. Lynn Rardin notes: "It appears that the software is available on only one or some of Iomega's ftp mirror sites. If you repeatedly connect, sometimes ioware-mac-ppc-27.hqx appears in the file list, other times it does not." If you do obtain the update, Lynn cautions: "When I installed IomegaWare 2.7 on a test partition, I noticed that the version of Tools installed is 6.4.2b, suggesting to me that this might still be beta software. I contacted Iomega support and they indicated that this is not an official release and so they couldn't comment on whether or not this version of Tools is a beta release. They also said that the release wouldn't be official until it's listed on their download page (presumably here)." David Johnson replies: "I downloaded using one of the alternate sites without problem. I also have had no problems using it with a Zip and a Jaz drive." Vitaly Citovsky also had success he getting the software. He adds: "It fixed a freeze that occurred when I used the FireWire adapter with Iomega 250 Zip drive - running Mac OS 9.0.4." Updating Iomega FireWire Support from 1.0.1 to 1.1 appeared to be the critical change here.
