IomegaWare 2.1 is really 2.0?; Iomega and CD/DVD drivers conflict? Yesterday we reported on an IomegaWare 2.1 CD that is now available. However, Bryan Canning found that, despite the label on the CD, the software on the disc was actually the 2.0 version. Our contact in Iomega has confirmed this.
In any case, the 2.0 version should fix the "no drive attached" error previously reported here. Based on reader feedback, it may also fix some other problems, but this is less clear.

Meanwhile, Paul Cook claims that the restart/shut-down and wake-from-sleep problems previously reported for iBooks and iMacs, and possibly linked to USB Zip drives, may be due to a conflict between the Iomega drivers and the Apple CD/DVD driver. He found that the symptoms vanished when he disabled one of the other of this software.

Reader Ken confirms this. He adds: "The work around, as Apple had indicated, is to turn on VM."
