Microsoft Macintosh Business Unit has released Internet Explorer Preview Release Update 5.1.1. If you are running Mac OS X 10.0.3 or higher (required for this version of Explorer), Software Update System Preference will notify you of this Explorer update and walk you through the install process.

Update: Microsoft originally said that you could also get the Update from Apple's Mac OS X Web site. However, they have since retracted this, stating: "Explorer 5.1.1 is not available as a stand-alone download."

This update is for the English, Japanese, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Swedish versions. Internet Explorer 5.1.1 includes:

  • Improved Reliability
  • Better download support
  • User interface and Aqua improvements
  • Better printing support
  • Updated support for Flash, Shockwave and QuickTime plug-ins
