Intel President and Chief Executive Officer Paul Otellini will make an appearance at the Ritz-Carlton in San Francisco next week to discuss technology that will "make the PC work harder for IT," according to an invitation sent by the company.

Executives from other companies plan to join Otellini on Monday, perhaps to talk a little more about Averill, Intel's upcoming platform for business PCs. Averill is designed for business PCs using Intel's dual-core Conroe processor, which is not expected to be available until the second half of the year. It will allow IT managers to upload BIOS updates or patches to PCs that have crashed or are inaccessible, among other things.

Intel has not confirmed whether Averill will receive its own catchy yet perplexing brand name like Centrino or Viiv. An Intel representative declined to comment on the topic of Monday's event with Otellini.
