Installing JAM 2.6 Regarding our previous report of problems installing Adaptec's JAM 2.6, Chris Gauch found that if you use the full installer (which Adaptec sent him) rather than the Updater, all works fine. Adaptec further replied: "We have seen the install problem on some machines, we are still working to find out where the issue is." Wacom and GoMac conflict: a follow-up Regarding our recent coverage of a conflict between GoMac and Wacom Graphire tablets, Evan Evanson found that the problem only occurred if he turned off GoMac's option to "AutoHide." Power Manager and Mac OS 9 Power Manager extends the capabilities of Apple's Energy Saver control panel. Dragon Software confirms that Power Manager 1.0 does not work with Mac OS 9.x. This is because Power Manager uses the Energy Saver API and (as described in TechNote 1176) Mac OS 9 no longer supports this API. Dragon Software adds: "Work is currently in progress on Power Manager 2.0 to feature Mac OS 9/X support, together with numerous other major additions. We expect the new version to be released by Christmas 2000." CD-RW media advice A recent MacFixIt Forums thread offers advice on which brand of CD-RW media to get.
