Infiniti compacts its new concept car
At the Frankfurt auto show next month, Infiniti will show off its design for a new compact car model, in concept form.
For a decade, Infiniti's only cars were the well-regarded G and M models, but the company recently rebranded to a Q model designation for its entire line-up. At next month's Frankfurt auto show, the company will debut the first completely new car to arise with the Q brand.
The car, shown as a concept, will be called the Q30, and hits the premium compact segment.
Don't expect a rebranded Versa, as Infiniti says it developed the Q30 from the ground-up, consulting with Director of Performance Sebastian Vettel. The car will let Infiniti compete with the Lexus CT200h and BMW 1-series.
As a teaser before the unveiling in Frankfurt, Infiniti released a sketch showing a curvy, hatchback design with massive wheels. That sketch may reveal a little of what the Q30 concept will look like, but it is also very reminiscent of sketches of concepts from other carmakers, such as the Mazda SUV concept from 2008.
CNET will be on hand in Frankfurt for the Q30 unveiling on September 10.
