Improved LG Optimus 4X HD arrives in Europe in June
In addition to coming to select countries in Europe, Asia, and Latin America, the quad-core superphone also receives a number of tweaks ahead of its arrival.
LG today confirmed that its quad-core Optimus 4X HD will go on sale in "key markets" in Europe starting in June. Initially unveiled at Mobile World Congress back in February, the smartphone also will touch down in select countries in Asia and South and Central America in the coming months.
As a reminder, the handset runs Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) and has 16GB of internal memory, 1GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel main camera, a second 1.3-megapixel shooter around front, DLNA support, a 2,150mAh battery, and the Nvidia Tegra 3 1.5GHz quad-core processor. On the outside, there's a 4.7-inch display with an 1280x720-pixel resolution
Yet, LG has added some enhancements since the Optimus 4X HD's debut. In a blog post, the company promised SIO+ technology, which will extend the run time of the battery, and that the phone now comes with Quick Memo and Media Plex.
First introduced in the Optimus Vu, Quick Memo provides users with the ability to jot notes and markups over screen images, which can then be shared with others.
Media Plex, on the other hand, is more of a suite of applications that creates a richer experience for the media player. Features include pinch-zoom on video, adjusting playback speed, viewing thumbnails of other videos during playback, and screenshot previews of specific points in a video through the progress bar.
Unfortunately, we still don't have any indication as to which carriers will offer the Optimus 4X HD, nor do we know which countries constitute "key" markets. If I were to wager a guess, I might look for the United Kingdom to be among the first areas to announce pricing and availability.
